Bad News for Northern Ireland?

May 16, 2019

I have just been reading in the Belfast Telegraph that the ex chief constable of Cheshire, Simon Byrne, is in the running for the job of chief constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).  I hope for the sake of Northern Ireland that he is not appointed.  He may have been cleared of misconduct and gross misconduct, but his staff paint a pretty unpleasant picture of him.  Coupled with the fact that he condones gross misconduct and criminality by his staff, plus submitting a statement of defence to a court action that was demonstrably false and that his solicitor who submitted it on his behalf (Sarah Phillips) knew to be false, he is clearly a thoroughly undesirable person.

I just can’t imagine what the Northern Irish are doing even considering this extremely nasty piece of work, let alone shortlisting him.  Lunatics.
